Gráfica Santa Marta began its activities in 1965, in João Pessoa, Paraíba, as a result of a dream of a predestined person from Paraiba, who knew, together with a lot of determination, courage and strong will, how to take this dream from paper and transform it into reality.

Everything began with a small manual typography, and today Gráfica has one of the biggest and most modern printer parks in Brazil, in addition to having the biggest customer service network. The company has at its disposal latest generation equipment, the most varied of resources, and most importantly, a team ready to satisfy the client.

Emphasis given to honesty, integrity, discipline, ethical treatment of clients and suppliers, and careful attention to the well-being of the company’s collaborators are examples of the values left behind by its founder, Hortêncio Ribeiro de Luna, whose children (Gráfica’s current Directors) know how to value and further develop these principal characteristics that represent and propel Santa Marta into the future.

Over the course of these last forty plus years, the company has always managed to overcome all difficulties that is has come across thanks to the extreme professionalism of its management and collaborators. With an entrepreneurial vision refined through conducting business, Santa Marta has always emphasized constant investment in keeping technology up-to-date, as much through the development of its professionals: participating in training, visits, congresses and shows in Brazil and abroad; as through the acquisition of new and modern equipment. All of this has allowed the company to become one of the most developed and modern in the domestic printing market.

Below are some of the important dates in the construction of this success story:

• 1965 – Beginning of activities.
• 1972 – The 1st Automatic Typographic Printer (Heidelberg).
• 1976 – The acquisition of its own site (Rua da Areia) and the beginning of the Off-Set process.
• 1982 – The opening of the branch in Recife; beginning the development of new markets (besides Paraíba) to generate sufficient demand for the full utilization of production capacity.
• 1989 – 1ª Impressora Bicolor e 1ª Impressora 4 cores do N/NE.
• 1995 – The 1st Bicolor Printer and 1st 4-colour Printer in the North and Northeast of Brazil.
• 2000 – Expansion of the site to 11,000 m², and the acquisition of the 1st Commercial Rotating Printer in the North and Northeast of Brazil (Heidelberg M-600).
• 2002 – A new jump in development with the acquisition of the 2nd Rotary Printer, allowing for the possible entrance into new and challenging markets.
• 2004 – The substitution of all flat printers for new machines and the purchase of a new machine for varnishing, making hard covers and image control. This whole story of determination and success allows Gráfica Santa Marta to figure today as one of the best printers in Brazil.
